The 8373 IP paging adapter from Algo is a PoE-powered IP zone paging adapter for public address systems. It provides a dry page output to a traditional analog amplifier, so you can bridge a VoIP phone system to an existing PA installation. This approach lets you keep your legacy speakers and amplifiers while adding modern IP features like SIP and multicast.

Three-zone paging and zone control

The 8373 IP paging adapter supports three independent speaker zones. High-current internal relays switch each zone on or off. You can activate zones from a phone call, from multicast audio or from DTMF tones on the telephone keypad.

For larger sites, you can use multiple 8373 adapters with the same amplifier or with several amplifiers. In that case, each adapter adds three more zones. One 8373 can switch up to 500 W on a 70 V amplifier or 720 W on a 100 V amplifier, which covers many typical commercial amplifiers.

Seamless bridge from VoIP to analog amplifiers

On the amplifier side, the 8373 provides an isolated and balanced line output. This design helps eliminate hum and noise. The output is a dry audio signal that works with amplifier inputs between 600 Ohm and 10 kOhm, so most legacy amplifiers are supported. You can connect using either an XLR connector or a terminal block for flexible wiring. A dry contact closure is also available to activate the amplifier if needed.

On the network side, the 8373 emulates a page port like the one on a legacy PBX. It registers as a SIP endpoint and can also act as a multicast sender or receiver. This makes it easy to integrate with hosted, cloud or on-premise IP phone systems and to build a hybrid solution with both IP and analog speakers.

SIP, multicast and easy configuration

The 8373 IP paging adapter supports up to 50 SIP page extensions. When you call one of these extensions, the adapter auto-answers and sends audio to the selected zones. You can map each extension to a specific zone or group of zones. As an alternative, you can call a single page extension and then choose the zones using DTMF from the phone keypad.

The device also supports RTP multicast and Polycom Group Page. One adapter can multicast to many Algo IP endpoints, such as speakers, strobe lights and other paging adapters. In terms of audio quality, the 8373 supports the G.722 wideband codec for HD voice, which improves clarity and intelligibility for announcements and emergency messages. Configuration is done through a user-friendly web interface or via auto-provisioning.
