FAQ
headsets, hospitality and rugged analog, and buying from us.
Legacy Systems (Nortel, Mitel, Avaya)
1. Can I still buy replacement phones for my Nortel Norstar or Meridian system?
Yes. Nortel phones remain compatible with active Norstar and Meridian PBX systems. We carry refurbished models (M7208, M7310, M5208, M5316, M3904, T7316, etc.), all tested and backed by a 12-month warranty. They plug directly into your system with no configuration required.
2. Mitel announced end-of-support — do I need to replace my entire system?
Not necessarily. End-of-support means no more updates, not that your system stops working. Many organizations extend system life by 3–7 years by replacing handsets instead of migrating.
3. My Avaya phone is end-of-life — what are my options?
We stock certified refurbished Avaya phones (1400, 1600, 9400, 9600 series). They are fully tested and ready to deploy, and your system will recognize them immediately.
4. How do I know if a refurbished phone will be compatible with my system?
Compatibility depends on the protocol:
- Nortel (M/T series): proprietary digital
- Avaya digital: IP Office / Aura
- IP phones (Cisco, Polycom, Yealink): SIP/SCCP
If unsure, contact us and we’ll confirm before purchase.
5. Can you supply large quantities for hospitals or universities?
Yes. We support bulk institutional orders across Canada. For 10+ units, contact us for volume pricing and lead times.
Budget Fleet Refresh (SMBs, Schools, Call Centers)
1. Is buying refurbished telecom equipment safe?
Yes. Refurbished means professionally inspected, cleaned, tested, and reset. It is not the same as “used.” All units include a 12-month warranty.
2. How much can we save with refurbished phones?
Typically 40–60% savings compared to new.
Example: A 50-seat deployment can save $7,500–$10,000+ CAD.
3. My Avaya phone is end-of-life — what are my options?
We stock certified refurbished Avaya phones (1400, 1600, 9400, 9600 series). They are fully tested and ready to deploy, and your system will recognize them immediately.
4. Can we mix phone brands in one office?
It depends on your system:
- Cloud VoIP / SIP: Yes (mix brands)
- Proprietary PBX: No (must match system protocol)
5. Do you offer volume pricing?
Yes. For 10+ units, we provide custom quotes and sourcing options.
6. Can you source discontinued models?
Often yes. We source refurbished and new-old-stock units such as Cisco 7841, Polycom VVX, Avaya 9608, etc.
Conference Phones
1. Should I repair or replace a broken conference phone?
Replacement is usually faster and more cost-effective than repair. Refurbished units include warranty and ship quickly.
2. What is the difference between SoundStation2, VVX, and Trio?
- SoundStation2: Analog
- VVX: IP/SIP
- Trio: Premium IP with advanced features
Choose based on your system type.
3. Do you sell replacement power supplies?
Yes. We stock accessories and power adapters for many models.
4. How many microphones does a conference room need?
- Small (≤6 people): 1 unit
- Medium (6–12): Extended range / add mics
- Large (12+): Advanced systems with expansion mics
Professional Headsets
1. Bluetooth vs DECT headsets — what’s the difference?
Bluetooth: ~30m range, mobile use
DECT: 100–150m range, office-grade, better reliability
2. Will the Plantronics CS540 work with my desk phone?
Yes, via headset port. For remote answering, you may need:
- HL10 lifter
- EHS cable (model-specific)
3. What headsets do you recommend for call centers?
- Wireless: Plantronics CS540
- Wired: Jabra Biz 1500 / EncorePro
We can supply bulk quantities and recommend spare units.
4. Why is noise cancellation not blocking background noise?
Most headsets cancel outbound noise (for the listener), not inbound noise. For both, you need ANC models.
5. How long do headsets last?
- Corded: 18–36 months
- Wireless: 2–4 years
Replace when audio degrades or battery fails.
Hospitality, Healthcare & Industrial Phones
1. Do you supply hospitals phones?
Yes. We carry hospitality-grade phones (Teledex, Scitec, VTech) with durability and guest-friendly features.
2. What phones are best for hospitals?
Phones with smooth, disinfectable surfaces. Popular options include Scitec, Cortelco, and Spectralink wireless devices
3. What phones are best for warehouses or industrial environments?
Rugged devices like G-Tel armored phones or Spectralink wireless handsets.
4. What is a Spectralink phone?
Enterprise-grade wireless VoIP handset used in hospitals and large facilities. It connects to your PBX over Wi-Fi and supports mobility and integration.

2. What does your 12-month warranty cover?
