The 8138 IP Color Visual Alerter is a PoE-powered multi-color IP strobe from Algo. It provides bright visual alerts for telephone, safety, security and emergency events. Use it when noise, hearing protection or hearing loss make audio alerts unreliable. In these situations, clear light signals help staff and visitors see important notifications right away.

Multi-color led strobe for clear visual alerts

The 8138 IP Color Visual Alerter uses four LED colors: amber, blue, green and red. You can assign each color to a different type of event, such as ring, page or emergency. This color coding improves awareness and helps people react faster.

The device supports up to 180 combinations of flash pattern, intensity and color. You can even set a steady-on mode when you need a constant visual signal. High-efficiency LEDs provide wide coverage with 360 x 180 degree visibility on a wall or ceiling. The housing supports indoor and outdoor use. When you install the supplied gaskets, the unit reaches an IP66 rating for harsh environments.

SIP, PoE and multicast for easy deployment

The 8138 acts as a full third-party SIP endpoint. It works with most hosted, cloud and on-premise VoIP platforms. You can enable secure SIP with TLS and SRTP for encrypted signaling and media. Multiple SIP extensions support different use cases, such as Page, Ring and Emergency Alert.

Configuration is simple through a web interface or an auto-provisioning server. Power comes from standard PoE (IEEE 802.3af), so you do not need a separate power supply. In addition, the device can send and receive multicast. One 8138 can trigger many Algo IP alerters, speakers and paging adapters across your building or campus. All devices can flash together in perfect sync.

Configurable colors, zones and integrations

The 8138 IP Color Visual Alerter is designed for complex notification scenarios. You can:

• Assign different colors and flash patterns to specific events (for example, amber for shelter, blue for medical, green for all clear, red for lockdown).

• Use dedicated Ring extensions so the strobe flashes for telephone ring events without answering calls.

• Register Emergency Alert extensions that keep flashing until cancelled or a timer expires.

• Trigger the alerter via its RESTful API or via a dry contact closure using Algo call buttons or switches.

Zone paging and multicast support let you cover up to 50 zones from a single device, either by mapping zones to SIP extensions or by selecting zones with DTMF from a phone. The 8138 also integrates with popular notification ecosystems like Singlewire InformaCast and can work alongside Algo’s IP speakers and the 8301 IP Paging Adapter to create a full audio-visual paging and emergency notification system.

Ideal for noisy and noise-sensitive environments

This IP strobe is particularly useful wherever audible alerts are hard to hear or not appropriate. Typical deployments include manufacturing plants, warehouses, utilities, transport hubs, garages and restaurants, where machine noise or hearing protection masks phone rings and announcements. It also works very well in noise-sensitive locations such as hospital maternity wards, courtrooms, studios and libraries, where a visual alert is much less disruptive than a loud tone.
